J. Matthews Presents Courage for Fools
The genre bending J. Mathews has a knack for creating engulfing collages of sound. He finds warm electronic sound waves and pairs it with gentle pop sensibilities that feel like something of a musical hug. This approach could come off as saccharine but his vulnerable yet powerful lyrics is the glue the sticks it all together.
Mathews shares- “Any story worth telling has its phases, its unique chapters, its unexpected twists.” As a writer first are foremost, the ethos of his music is in the emotion that built it. His latest single “Courage for Fools” is both elevating yet humbling. It reminds the listener that some feelings are best set to sound and in that sonic cornucopia, you can heal. "If you can't find a way to say it to someone, sing it, and let them listen", says the shy artist. As one of five tracks on his upcoming EP (due in early 2023), J. Matthews has done one of the hardest things for an artist to do - capture a specific feeling that they alone feel and successfully convey it to others. “It’s the only way to truly be heard, and like so many other good things in life, it’s equally as frustrating as it is beautiful."
